A storage building at a Fort Collins business was burning out of control more than an hour after it was reported, according to the Poudre Valley Fire Authority.
At 8:15 p.m., nearby residents received a phone message to stay inside, on the chance the fumes from the fire might be toxic.
The warning area is bordered by the Poudre River on the north, LaPorte Avenue on the south, North Shields Street on the east and North Taft Hill Road on the west.
The blaze has consumed a 75 foot by 200 foot building at Forney Industries at 1830 LaPorte Ave., said fire authority spokesman Patrick Love.
No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
Fifty firefighters are battling the blaze, which already had caused the roof to collapse at about 5:30 p.m.
According to its website, Forney Industries is “one of America’s longest operating family-owned distribution companies.” The company, which began in 1932 and opened its hub in Fort Collins in 1949, distributes more than 4,500 products to hardware, automotive, farm, ranch and other retailers.
