A Greeley man who kidnapped his estranged wife, bound her with wire and threatened to kill her was sentenced Monday to 51 years in prison.
Jack Holmes, 41, was found guilty on 16 counts for crimes committed against his wife, according to the Weld County district attorney’s office.
The criminal counts, including stalking, menacing, assault with a deadly weapon and intimidation of a witness, stemmed from two separate cases in 2009.
On May 30, 2009, while free on bond in the earlier of the two cases, Holmes “hid in his estranged wife’s home and held her against her will for more than eight hours,” prosecutors said. “During (that) time, Holmes bound his wife with wire, assaulted her and threatened to kill her.”
The victim’s parents, concerned about their daughter’s safety, called Greeley police at the time of the incident, and Holmes was arrested.
Holmes was convicted by a Weld County jury in June.
