A highway department employee has been arrested for pulling a gun on a colleague, authorities said.

The incident happened today at a Colorado Department of Transportation shop just outside of Kremmling in Grand County, according to a media release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.

Bryan Charlesworth was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing, the sheriff’s office said.

Charlesworth got into an “altercation” with a fellow CDOT employee before pulling the weapon, the sheriff’s office said.

CDOT spokeswoman Stacey Stegman said Charlesworth has been placed on administrative leave as the highway department gathers information on the case.

If the allegations stand, such behavior is “unacceptable,” Stegman said.

“Safety in the workplace is at the forefront of everything we do,” she said.

The sheriff’s office, Kremmling Police Department and Colorado State Patrol responded to the incident and arrested Charlesworth without further incident.

The sheriff’s office did not release details on what sparked the altercation.
