STERLING, Colo.—Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Logan County Detention Center in Sterling.
The sheriff’s office says 36-year-old Joel Elias Ocanas failed to return from work release Tuesday. An arrest warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Authorities say Ocanas was being held on charges of driving under revocation-prohibited, protection order violation and possession of marijuana. Lt. Joe McBride of the sheriff’s office says Ocanas has a long criminal history, including assault and menacing.
Ocanas is described as white, 6 feet, 180 pounds with black hair and hazel eyes. He has tattoos on his chest, arms and hands.
