Avants led wire to wire en route to winning last weekend’s late-models race at Colorado National Speedway, his second consecutive triumph and series-tying third of the season. The Littleton driver leapfrogged Greeley’s Bruce Yackey for second place in the standings, behind Ronnie Hults of Commerce City, who also has three wins. Avants is looking for his sixth track championship but his first since 2002.
