Two recent, evidently unrelated sex assaults has Westminster police concerned, because the alleged attackers were strangers who entered victims’ homes through unlocked door and window, respectively.
“Most sexual assault cases reported to police involve a suspect that knows the victim in some capacity,” the department said in an advisory today.
The first assault happened on July 25 and the other on Aug. 10. The Westminster Police Department is not releasing other details while they are being investigated.
Westminster police are offering free in-home security reviews for city residents.
“An officer will meet with you and discuss how to make your home safer and less of a target to criminals,” the department stated.
Westminster residents can call 303-658-4427 to arrange an officer’s visit, and most other cities offer a similar service, said Westminster police spokesman Trevor Materasso.
