Getting your player ready...
Home, sweet home? Used to be that a double to the gap by Todd Helton was a footnote, not a headline. These days, not so much. Helton’s third-inning double was his fourth extra-base hit of the season at Coors Field, his first since June 12. Next up on his agenda: Going deep in LoDo. Helton hasn’t homered at home in 126 at-bats.
Power pitcher.
Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo doubled in the third off Jorge De La Rosa. Surprising? Not a bit. Gallardo has retired the best-hitting-pitcher-in-the-majors award. He’s hitting .245 with four homers in 49 at-bats.
Road warriors.
Much has been made of the Rockies’ issues away from Coors Field. The Brewers? They love the road. They’re hitting .262 — .252 at home, .271 on the road.
