LONE TREE, Colo.—Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet survived a bruising primary contest. This weekend he starts his general campaign with a series of town halls about education.

Bennet was headed to Lone Tree Saturday afternoon for a discussion on improving education. Bennet was superintendent of Denver Public Schools before being appointed to the Senate last year.

Bennet also indicated he’ll make education a plank of his campaign against his Republican opponent, Ken Buck. Bennet last week accused Buck of wanting to cut federal student loans, based on a Buck remark that the federal government may one day need to “wean” the public off them.

Bennet plans future education town halls in Greeley and Fort Collins.
