ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A pilot flying in the area of Monday’s plane crash that killed former Sen. Ted Stevens and four others has estimated that clouds were as low as 600 feet at the time, the National Transportation Safety Board’s chairwoman said Saturday.
That is below previous estimates of 1,000 to 2,000 feet, Chairwoman Deborah Hersman said. The cause of the crash on a remote mountainside hasn’t been determined.
