BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Marijuana activists in Broomfield are hitting the streets this weekend to try to overturn the city’s ban on medical marijuana dispensaries.
Marijuana supporters are launching a petition drive to force the question of dispensaries to a vote. A state law that passed this year allows cities to ban dispensaries, and Broomfield’s city council took that step last month.
Marijuana advocates say the pot shops shouldn’t be banned without a vote of the people. The city of Aurora has already put marijuana dispensaries on ballots this fall, and a similar proposal is pending in El Paso County.
