LOS ANGELES — “Toy Story 3” is now the highest-grossing animated film of all time. The third movie in the Pixar series about cowboy Woody, space ranger Buzz Lightyear and the toys’ owner, Andy, has crossed more than $920 million at box offices worldwide since opening June 18, Disney says. That means it edged out DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc.’s “Shrek 2” to attain the top spot.
The movie also ranks as Disney’s fourth-highest-grossing film of all time. Its top grosser is “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” (2006) at $1.07 billion.
Pixar introduced the “Toy Story” characters in 1995, and the movies have made more money with each incarnation. The Associated Press
