DENVER—Democrat Andrew Romanoff fell short last week in his primary challenge to Sen. Michael Bennet. Romanoff is also short on funds and is asking donors to help cover his campaign debt.
Romanoff sent supporters a plea Tuesday asking for donations up to the legal maximum of $2,400 to help him retire campaign debt. Romanoff didn’t say how much debt he has.
Romanoff gambled everything in his bid against Bennet. Romanoff even sold his Denver home for about $250,000. In his e-mail, Romanoff jokingly thanked supporters for offers for free housing but said he and his dog are “not out of our house yet.” He didn’t elaborate.
Bennet defeated Romanoff 54 percent to 46 percent and will face Republican Ken Buck in November.
