GRANBY, Colo.—The YMCA of the Rockies has agreed to set aside almost 2,800 acres in a conservation deal with the government.
The Snow Mountain Ranch north of Winter Park will go into a conservation easement that bans future development. The land will retain a conference center and more than 50 miles of trails. The site is a popular summer camp destination for children. The ranch also offers low-cost family retreats for servicemembers returning from war.
The easement announced Wednesday is valued at $9.4 million. The YMCA will receive $6 million from state and federal funds, with the rest considered a donation by the YMCA.
