Farmers market at mining museum.

Through September and October, the Western Museum of Mining and Industry in Colorado Springs will host a farmers market every Monday and Wednesday. Fresh vegetables from local farms will be on sale, as well as breads, meats and more. Guests can also explore operable steam engines, learn how to pan for gold, see a re-created mine drift and see examples of the pioneer lifestyle. For farmers market times, call 719-488-0880.

Fall wine festival.

Crested Butte will celebrate Vinotok — “fall wine festival” in Slovenian — Sept. 13-18. Incorporating traditional storytelling, community feasts and theatre productions throughout the week, the celebration is open to all ages. Ticket prices vary. 800-814-8893 or

Oktoberfest Train.

The Royal Gorge Oktoberfest Train will take to the tracks Friday through Sunday Sept. 17-Oct. 10. Departing from the Santa Fe Depot at 12:30 p.m., visitors can enjoy live accordion music, beverages and a traditional Oktoberfest lunch. Tickets are $65 for adults and $45 for children.

Vail Restaurant Month.

Vail Restaurant Month runs Sept. 20-Oct. 17 and gives visitors the chance to experience a variety of events around the Vail Valley. Each week will have its own theme (such as “Health, Wellness & Outdoors Week” or “Family Week”) that highlights special activities for singles, couples, groups and families.
