Carolee Ware of Lakewood is the recipient of this week’s $25 gas card for her suggestions for making solo travel easier.

“Like a good scout, ‘Be Prepared,’ ” Ware wrote. “Always carry emergency notification information on your person, as well as an extra copy in your luggage.”

Ware recommends going a step further and making copies of your transportation tickets, the first two pages of your passport and a “scrambled” or coded reminder of your credit-card numbers in case the originals are lost.

“Stash copies apart from the originals,” she adds. “Hope you never have to use them. Then smile, be friendly and enjoy a safe, relaxed journey.
