A woman was arrested today by an off-duty police officer in Aurora in connection with multiple bank robberies when the suspect returned to the same bank for the fourth time.

The woman, Harrisa Lashay Smyer, 33, is suspected in connection with at least four robberies since July 14 in addition to another attempted robbery this afternoon.

Four of the incidents, including the attempt today, were at the US Bank at 2290 South Parker Road. The other robbery was at the City Wide Bank at 10660 East Colfax Avenue.

The police officer had been hired by the US Bank following the previous bank robberies, and was on the scene when Smyer showed up again today. Smyer was arrested after a short foot chase.

Smyer had threatened to use a gun, but she was never seen with one.

She is being held on a $6,000 bond.
