A man who was injured while climbing in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area west of Brainard Lake this morning was rescued via helicopter after a lengthy search of the area.
A helicopter was used to transport search and rescue personnel to the area after a call for help about 11 a.m., according to Boulder County sheriff’s Sgt. Troy Wolf. Wolf said the man was located after an hours-long search of the area that involved more than 50 rescue workers.
Most of the details about the accident, including the victim’s name were unavailable tonight. Wolf cited the difficulty of communicating in the rural area of the rescue for the lack of information.
Channel 7 reported that the climber fell as much as 200 feet and that he was airlifted to a Denver hospital with serious injuries following a technical rope rescue.
