MIAMI — Tropical Storm Danielle is strengthening in the open Atlantic, but the system is still far from land.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said Sunday that Danielle had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and that the storm could become a hurricane by late Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Frank is developing in the Pacific off Mexico, and storm warnings have been issued for parts of the coast.

Forecasters said the storm had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph. It was about 120 miles south of Puerto Angel, Mexico, and was moving west at 7 mph.
