DENVER—Focus on the Family founder James Dobson and his wife will address the Washington, D.C., tea party rally by video.
Dobson and his wife, Shirley, were invited to the rally organized by TV and radio personality Glenn Beck. The Dobsons say they will be in California Saturday celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Dobson is seen as one of the country’s most influential conservative Christian leaders and is known for his opposition to abortion and gay marriage. Nationally known conservative politicians often visited him at the Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family ministry.
Dobson stepped down as the organization’s president in 2003 and as chairman of the board last year. He made his last radio broadcast for Focus on the Family early this year.
