A motorcycle driver was killed in a two-vehicle crash this morning on a mountain highway west of Denver.

The fatal crash happened at about 9:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 285 near Goddard Ranch Court in Jefferson County, said Trooper Nate Reid, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.

A woman driving a Kia Rio pulled out of Goddard Ranch Court to head southbound on U.S. 285 and “into the path” of the northbound motorcycle, Reid said.

The motorcycle driver, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, Reid said.

The highway was temporarily shut down by the crash but one lane in each direction has been opened.

Further details on the crash, including identities of the drivers, will be released as soon as possible.
