AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.—Three players have been carted off the field on stretchers with neck injuries in the Northwestern State-Air Force game.
Demons safety Lance Lacoste was the latest to leave Saturday’s season opener after injuring his neck while covering a punt in the third quarter. The Demons said he had severe pain in his neck, but had movement in all extremities.
Northwestern State offensive guard Josh Cunningham and Air Force cornerback Reggie Rembert were taken off in the opening quarter.
The Demons said Cunningham had a possible stinger, along with a concussion, and was taken to a hospital as a precaution. It was unclear how the freshman was injured.
Rembert had feeling in all extremities after hurting his neck on a tackle.
