Telluride real-estate broker George Harvey is having some fun with his latest listing — a historic bordello in the heart of town.
The Good Time Society house, also known as Dizzy’s Crib, was used as a bordello from 1899 to 1904, when Telluride was home to about 175 prostitutes, also known as soiled doves.
“Telluride had a red-light district that was one or two blocks,” Harvey said. “It must have been a festive era.”
The alley behind the Good Time Society house and other “sporting halls” became known as Popcorn Alley because of the late-night sound of screen doors slamming.
Harvey was selected by owner Bank of America to market the 2,055-square-foot house at 136 S. Spruce St. The four-bedroom, three-bath house is listed for $849,900 with a “red light included with purchase,” according to Harvey’s brochure.
“I don’t know how many REOs (real estate owned) Bank of America has that are previous bordellos, but I’m sure it’s a short list,” Harvey said.
