CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—A homeless man convicted of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in a Denver-area parking lot has been sentenced to 336 years to life in prison.
Denver’s KMGH-TV reports that Scott James Sylvia was sentenced Friday for the sexual assault in July 2008 in the parking lot of a library in Lone Tree. The 27-year-old Sylvia was convicted in June of kidnapping, sexual assault, aggravated robbery, retaliation against a witness or victim, second-degree assault and criminal trespass.
Authorities say Sylvia attacked the girl in the parking lot as she was leaving after checking out a book. Sylvia was arrested five days later after he was identified by the victim, surveillance video and DNA.
