All good things must end. Even something as pleasing to the ears and taste buds as Rockabilly & Ribs at Tambien.

Today’s the last day of the popular weekly combo — with the local and legendary Halden Wofford and the Hi-Beams playing. And Mexican ribs.

“We did this for 20 Sundays,” says Tambien owner Jesse Morreale. “It’s become an institution. So many people from so many walks of life come to this thing.” (BTW, Morreale is feeling better after a bad head fall this summer.)

Now finishing its third year, Rockabilly & Ribs usually draws 400 to 1,000 people over the five hours, 2-7 p.m., depending on the weather.

“We get kids, dogs, scooters, motorcycles, bikers, lawyers, Realtors, writers, stylists, everyone,” says Morreale. “It’s crashing Cherry Creek. It’s unreal.”

And it’s done with today. Put a fork in that carne asada.

Goodbye, summer 2010.

Night at the museum.

I’ve been through the Denver Art Museum’s King Tut exhibit early in the morning — but it sounds even better at twilight.

So I like this Tutankhamun Date Package. On Friday nights through Nov. 12, you get two drinks, two tix to the exhibit, two audio guides for $65. You take the tour, listen to local DJs afterwards, explore the rest of the museum and even have something to talk about.

EATS.

Some big restaurants have opened recently — but sometimes the little ones get ignored.

The guys who own Washington Park Grill and Max Gill and Grill, Jeff Estey and Greg Sauder, have taken over the little shoebox that was Dino’s Soda Bar at 2217 E. Mississippi Ave., a little neighborhood treasure just off Old South Gaylord Street. The guys decided not to turn it into a trendy deconstructed noodle house — and instead make it The Local Daylight Diner, serving locals food that’s local and easy to understand, even making their own ice cream. Open every day, the best parts are: Breakfast served all day! Homemade hot dogs!

And at 3315 S. Broadway, Cathy Matthews and Julie Mihevc have opened Cafe 180 — with the philosophy “Eat What You Want and Pay What You Can.” It’s modeled after the SAME Cafe on Colfax — pay what you can, volunteer if you can, get a square meal that you need.
