COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs police arrested a 41-year-old man Saturday on an attempted-murder warrant after an assault that left a 31-year-old man with facial fractures and a head injury.

Emergency-room workers at Memorial Hospital Central had called police at 11:23 p.m. Friday to report that the victim had been hit in the head at least three times with a blunt object.

The victim told police he had confronted a man named Stephen Archuleta about a domestic violence incident. Officers arrested Archuleta on Saturday morning at an Old Colorado City motel. He is being held in the El Paso County jail.

When the victim, whom police haven’t identified, turned to leave, he said, he was struck in the head and lost consciousness. When he came to, a friend drove him to the hospital.
