Members of Colorado’s congressional delegation say Fort Carson is one of two Army bases in the running to house a 2,700-soldier aviation brigade.
The Gazette in Colorado Springs reports that the Army will decide between the base south of Colorado Springs and the Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, Wash., as early as next year after environmental reviews are done. The two bases are the only Army Posts with combat divisions that lack major aviation units.
