Colorado State swept Illinois State 25-16, 25-14, 25-17 at Moby Arena on Saturday night and improved to 8-1 by winning the Rams Volleyball Classic.

Grizzlies off to perfect start.
The powerhouse Adams State men’s cross country team posted a perfect score at the season-opening Joe Vigil Open for the second consecutive year, kicking off the Grizzlies’ quest for a third straight Division II national championship.
Grizzlies senior Ryan McNiff won the college men’s 8K in Alamosa with a time of 24 minutes, 34 seconds.
The Adams State women’s team, ranked No. 1 nationally just like the men’s team, was equally dominant with a perfect score. Grizzlies senior Kristen Mc- Glynn, from Platte Canyon High School, won the women’s 5K with a course-record time of 17:01 — 21 seconds better than the previous record.
“I think it’s a great way to start off the season,” Mc- Glynn said. “I had the course record in mind, but you never really know what’s going to happen and it’s always nice to surprise yourself. The team perfect score was our goal coming into the meet.”
“I was really pleased with our performance,” said Adams State coach Damon Martin. “Every year the team changes, but the expectation is always the same. This is probably one of the greatest starts we’ve ever had. . . . Kristen breaking that course record by 21 seconds was just phenomenal.”
