The University of Denver men’s soccer team knocked off No. 20 Georgetown 3-1 on Sunday in the TLC Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Invitational at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

The Pioneers (2-1-1) dominated the Hoyas (2-2-0), outshooting Georgetown 16-6, including 8-1 in the second half.

“The way the team responded today after an exhausting double-overtime game Friday, I couldn’t ask for more,” coach Bobby Muuss said.

Pioneer midfielder Jarod Stigall, a junior from Plano, Texas, was the invitational’s offensive MVP. He was joined by sophomores Mark Weigand, Drew Beckie and Nathan Sackeyfio and senior Teale Stone on the all-tournament team.

The Pioneers return home to host Oral Roberts on Friday at Ciber Field.
