GUNNISON, Colo.—Gunnison authorities say two young sisters drowned in a pond in what appears to be an accident over the weekend.
The Gunnison County Sheriff’s office says the sisters, ages 4 and 8, were in a pond near Gunnison Saturday afternoon but couldn’t say whether they were being supervised by an adult. KUSA-TV reports that one of the girls was pronounced dead at the Gunnison Valley Hospital and the other died at the Children’s Hospital in Aurora.
The sheriff’s office says the pond was on private land.
