A woman who has long thought her former boyfriend might have been involved in the murder of JonBenet Ramsey on Monday called for police to compare his handwriting with a ransom note in the unsolved killing of the child beauty queen.

Jacqueline Brungardt took out an ad Monday in the Boulder Daily Camera featuring the Ramsey ransom note and a re-creation done using the journals of her former boyfriend, Chris Wolf.

Brungardt said a document examiner concluded that the same person wrote the re-creation and the ransom note.

Boulder Police Chief Mark Beckner, in a statement issued by his office, said Wolf had been “thoroughly investigated.”

“The police investigation included an analysis by a Colorado Bureau of Investigation handwriting expert who concluded that the individual did not write the ransom note,” Beckner said.

Wolf could not be reached for comment. He had previously been named a possible suspect by John and Patsy Ramsey in their book. Wolf sued the Ramseys for defamation, but the case was thrown out. Kevin Vaughan, The Denver Post
