HARTFORD, Conn. — A judge Tuesday sentenced former Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez, 52, to three years in prison for taking a bribe and attempted extortion.
Prosecutors said Perez, a Democrat and the city’s first Latino mayor, accepted $40,000 in home improvements as a bribe from a contractor. They said Perez also tried to extort $100,000 from a developer for a political ally.
