ASPEN, Colo.—Former students of an Aspen yoga instructor accused of groping two students in class are defending him.

The students testified Monday during the trial of Steven Jon Roger. Roger faces two misdemeanor charges of unlawful sexual contact. If convicted, Roger would have to register as a sex offender and would face up to three years in prison.

The Aspen Times and the Aspen Daily News reported that the students said they never saw Roger do anything inappropriate and that he was one of their best instructors.

Roger’s attorney has argued that touching is part of yoga instruction and that his client did nothing wrong.

The testimony has included live yoga demonstrations in the courtroom.

Roger is expected to testify Tuesday.
