Breckenridge Brewery hosts “The Gastravaganza of Beautiful Beer and Splendid Street Food” Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. outside Breckenridge Brewery at 471 Kalamath St. Look for drinks from Wynkoop Brewing, Ska Brewing, Odell’s, Avery, Left Hand and Del Norte Brewing, plus food from GastroCart, Brava Pizza, Biker Jim’s Gourmet Dogs, The Cupcake Truck, Steuben’s and Deluxe Burger. $65 a person. Happy Birthday, Fay Wray
Many have tried to take her place (we’re talking to you, Jessica Lange), but King Kong’s first and lasting love will always be Fay Wray, who defined the high-pitched, damsel-in-distress scream in the 1933 version of “King Kong.” Wray, who died in 2004 at age 97, would be 103 today. Let’s toast her with a Manilla Gorilla.
Manilla Gorilla Cocktail
Makes 1.
Ingredients
3 ounces vanilla vodka
1 ounce banana liqueur
4 ounces cream
Directions
Combine all ingredients with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
