GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Water officials from Denver and western Colorado say they’re making progress toward settling some long-running disputes.
Denver gets some of its water from western Colorado through tunnels under the Continental Divide. That’s led to disagreements over who’s entitled to how much.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports that officials from both sides outlined a broad plan on Thursday to end some of the conflicts.
Jim Lochhead (LOCK’-head), general manager of Denver Water, says his agency was once seen as “the evil empire” but is viewed differently now.
Lochhead and Eric Kuhn, general manager of the Colorado River Water Conservation District, spoke at a water conference in Grand Junction.
