East High School’s Class of 1960 celebrates its 50th reunion next weekendand more than 360 grads are returning for some memories. One guy is flying in from Germany.
“We had a big class,” explains organizer Sheila Nasbarg Rudofsky. “It was before George Washington (High School), Lincoln and TJ opened. We had split sessions. I went to school at 7:30 in the morning and got home at noon, in time to watch ‘American Bandstand.’ “
The fun starts Friday night with a “Yakety Yak” party at the Holiday Inn at Cherry Creek. Grads will tour the school Saturday morning and “Let the Good Times Roll” on Saturday night at Pinehurst Country Club.
Rudofsky says they have lost track of 125 classmates, and 110 have passed away. Many people sent in photos for the memory book produced for the weekend. “Some people don’t look anything like they did in high school,” says Rudofsky. “So we’re going to have really big name tags. I think it’s going to be pretty awesome.”
The office.
Party king Kevin Larson, some pals and Alice radio (105.9 FM) are bringing back Colorado’s Largest Office Party.
Now that we’re in a recession, it won’t be that hard to be the biggest. These days, the typical office party is a sheet cake, pretzels and a cash bar. But not at the Hyatt DTC on Friday night.
Larson & Company will take over the hotel and try to raise some dollars for Special Olympics. They’ll have three entry levels, topping off at Executive for $69 to shlubs like me for $29. You can shake it in a “So Colorado Can Dance Contest,” watch an Express Fashion Show, be in a model search, be a sexy secretary, race desk chairs, play water cooler ring toss and trash can basketball.
Organizers are expecting as many as 2,500 people.
“It’s going to be a giant happy hour,” says Larson. “It’s going to be drinking, networking, socializing, being goofy.”
Just like the office.
