A grass fire burning into timber near the Onahu Trailhead on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park has closed Trail Ridge Road from the Grand Lake Entrance Station to the Alpine Visitor Center.
The Onahu fire has torched about 40 acres in the Kawuneeche Valley, park officials said Saturday.
The fire was reported after 4 p.m. Crews from the Grand County and Estes Park area responded to the blaze. No structures, campgrounds or visitors were threatened, said Rocky Mountain National Park spokesman Larry Frederick.
