Touring machine rolled through the on Saturday and, like Thorogood’s music, the fans who came to enjoy a night of “bad boy” rock ‘n’ roll spanned decades.
Thorogood is a master performer and the almost-full house cheered his no-so-politically-correct banter and sang along with his best-known tunes including “Bad to the Bone,” “Move It on Over,” “I Drink Alone,” “You Talk Too Much,” and “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.”
The artist readily admits that his music may not be the most sophisticated, but it’s fun, occasionally clever, and it’s a way of life he’s wanted since the 1970s. Thorogood thanked the Colorado crowd for its allegiance over the years, referencing early-career tour stops at in Evergreen. He also treated the crowd to a couple of special guests – guitar legend Elvin Bishop and jazz saxophonist Eddie Shaw. Bishop and Shaw joined the band separately during the show and as a duo on the finale of “Madison Blues.”
Thorogood finally “collapsed” after the final number before springing back to his feet to the crowd’s delight and making his exit. Now in their fourth decade of making music and non-stop touring, Thorogood and his Destroyers show no signs of slowing down.
