The Rockies ran into the wrong Joe Saunders. When he’s good, Saunders is really good. When he’s bad, he’s abysmal. To wit: Saunders has a 1.13 ERA in his nine wins and a 7.82 mark in his 16 losses.
Benches warned.
Apparently, the Diamondbacks got the memo about Troy Tulowitzki owning September. Tulowitzki was plunked by a Saunders pitch in the fourth. Home-plate umpire Doug Eddings warned both benches after De La Rosa came high and in to Stephen Drew in the fifth.

Playoffs or no playoffs, the Rockies are compelling theater. Then you have the D-Backs. They’ve been in last place in the division every day since May 9.
