Getting your player ready...

Who knew the Rockies would score four runs in the first and Ubaldo Jimenez wouldn’t make that hold up? But then, holding leads on the road has been one of the dark sides of the Rockies’ season. They’re 24-20 on the road when scoring first compared with 35-10 at Coors Field.

Follow the leader.

Melvin Mora and Todd Helton homered in consecutive plate appearances in the first inning, the sixth back-to-back bombs of the season for the Rockies. It was the second time Carlos Gonzalez wasn’t involved. The D-backs? They’ve served up back-to-back shots a ghastly 12 times.

Extra boost.

The Rockies had three extra-base hits — a double and two home runs — in the first inning, one more than they had in the entire game in the series opener.
