LOVELAND, Colo.—A freshman Democratic congresswoman who said she wouldn’t debate her Republican opponent unless minor candidates were included has found a platform.
Rep. Betsy Markey has agreed to debate Republican Cory Gardner Oct. 19 in Loveland in a forum sponsored by KGWN-TV, a CBS affiliate that airs in northern Colorado and parts of Wyoming and Nebraska.
Earlier this month, a Markey-Gardner debate planned by the Coloradoan newspaper and a Denver television station was canceled because Markey would not agree to participate unless two minor-party candidates were included.
The Fort Collins station, called Northern Colorado 5, issued statements Wednesday from all four campaigns praising the agreement for an hour-long debate.
