Two people died this morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Federal Heights about 1:45 a.m. on Federal Boulevard near West 95th Avenue.

Both victims, a man and a woman, were ejected from the SUV when it rolled, said Federal Heights Police Department Sgt. Frank Turek.

The man in the vehicle died at the scene and the woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Just before the crash, the SUV had passed a Federal Heights patrol car and almost hit it, Turek said.

Police suspect alcohol played a part in the crash.

Federal Boulevard was closed between West 92nd and West 96th avenues for several hours and it reopened to traffic at about 6:30 a.m., police said.

The Westminster Police Department assisted Federal Heights at the scene early this morning.

An investigation into the crash, by Federal Heights police, is ongoing.

The identities of the victims will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
