BOULDER, Colo.—Two men have been arrested on suspicion of stealing scrap metal from homes destroyed in the wildfire west of Boulder.
Twenty-year-old Cesar Antonio Ayala and 35-year-old Jorge Salgado of Lafayette each face charges of burglary and felony theft.
Boulder County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tom McGrath says the two are suspected of stealing copper tubing out the charred remains of homes, which can fetch up to $3 a pound at local recycling centers.
