AURORA, Colo.—Two suspected would-be robbers encountered armed clerks at two Aurora liquor stores, with the second time resulting in injuries to both suspects.

Aurora police spokeswoman Shannon Lucy says one suspect was found outside a liquor store late Wednesday with multiple gunshot wounds. The other had been shot once and drove away, apparently causing two car accidents before being arrested.

Their conditions were not immediately known.

Police say one of the suspects fired two shots when a clerk at the first store pulled out a handgun from behind the counter. Both fled. The clerk wasn’t hit.

Six minutes later, police responded to another attempted robbery, except this time, the clerk fired several rounds at the suspects.
