A fast-moving grassfire in Weld County this afternoon burned an unoccupied home and a feeding shed before crews from seven departments gained an upperhand.

The fire was 95 percent contained at about 7 p.m., said a spokeswoman for the Platte Valley Fire Protection District in Kersey.

The property owner lives out of state, she said.

The cause of the fire near Weld County roads 42 and 49, east of U.S. 85 is under investigation.

It was reported just after 3 p.m., Green said.
