PITTSBURGH — Jacory Harris led quick touchdown drives to start each half and No. 19 Miami dominated Pittsburgh much like it did when the schools were Big East rivals, winning 31-3 on Thursday night.

Harris had two more floater-type interceptions like the four he threw in the Hurricanes’ 28-14 loss to No. 2 Ohio State two weeks ago, but shook them off to throw for two scores and 248 yards while going 21-of-32. Damien Berry did the rest by running for 87 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in an offense that outgained Pitt’s 348-232.

The Hurricanes (2-1), faster, deeper and more athletic than the Panthers (1-2), never gave Pitt quarterback Tino Sunseri any time to throw in his third college start, and he was pulled in the fourth quarter after completing 8-of-15 passes for 61 yards.

Dion Lewis, the nation’s leading returning rusher, was held to 41 yards on 12 carries.

Tar Heels review procedures

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — North Carolina coach Butch Davis says his football program is trying to do more to monitor what players are doing and who they’re associating with in the wake of an NCAA investigation.

The status of 10 players remains in doubt for Saturday’s game at Rutgers as the NCAA reviews agent-related benefits and possible academic misconduct. Two players, cornerback Kendric Burney and safety Deunta Williams, earned six- and four-game suspensions from the NCAA on Wednesday for improper benefits tied to several trips.

Davis said before Thursday afternoon’s practice that the program has also worked to educate players and their families about NCAA rules regarding benefits, though he said “obviously we’ve got to do a better job.”

Alabama coach Nick Saban says the Crimson Tide will play Michigan at a neutral site in 2012.

Saban said on his weekly radio show that the two tradition-rich teams will play at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, “probably for sure.” They are two of major college football’s winningest programs.
