EMMA, Colo.—A Pitkin County church seeking compensation for construction delays has been rebuffed by a judge.

Grace Church of the Roaring Fork Valley sought $1.5 million in damanges from Pitkin County for delaying construction in Emma.

County commissioners turned down the church construction plan in 2005 after neighbors opposed the plan. The church sued in 2006.

The county and church settled in 2008, with the county allowing the congregation to build a 15,000-square-foot facility and paying nearly $675,000. However, the church sought an additional $1.5 million for the delay.

Senior District Judge Richard Matsch ruled against the church’s additional claim.
