The Colorado State Patrol is celebrating its 75th Anniversary by throwing an open house bash.

The free, family event is open to the public and will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Patrol’s academy campus in Golden, 15055 S. Golden Road.

The day’s events will include a car show, featuring a long line of CSP vehicles from past and present, police motorcycle competitions hosted by the local chapter of The Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, and demonstrations by the patrol’s police dog unit, among other highlights.

People who attend the celebration will be able to tour the patrol academy, which has served as a training center for troopers for the past 75 years. The facility is also home to the CSP museum, which houses a wide variety of historical patrol items and memorabilia.

State Patrol members, including Col. James Wolfinbarger, the CSP chief, will be on hand to celebrate and mix with the public.
