As they wake up today, the Rockies’ playoff hopes are on life support with 10 games to play. Colorado trails San Francisco by 3 1/2 games, and San Diego by three games in the NL West. A look at Colorado’s possible route to the NL West title.
Surpassing San Fran.: Sweep Giants this weekend at home, making up three games head-to-head; then Rockies need to post a record one-game better in their final seven games next week than San Francisco in its final six games.
Surpassing San Diego: Rockies need to win eight of their final 10 games, and hope Padres do no better than 5-5, which would result in a tie.
Tiebreaker: If teams are tied, first divisional tiebreaker is head to head. Rockies hold tiebreaker on Padres, winning season series 12-6, and lead series 8-7 against Giants and would hold tiebreaker with sweep.
