The Avalanche on Tuesday locked in its fifth-round draft choice, signing forward Luke Walker to an entry-level contract, the team said.
The 20-year-old Walker was Colorado’s seventh pick in this year’s NHL draft, in the fifth-round at No. 139. He spent the last three seasons with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League.
Walker played in two games for the Avs this preseason, with a goal and a plus-2 rating. He was reassigned to the Avs’ AHL-affiliate Lake Erie Monsters on Sunday.
