DURANGO, Colo.—Six city positions, the fireworks display and funding for community organizations could get the ax under Durango’s proposed new budget.
Durango City Manager Ron LeBlanc is projecting a 1.5 percent increase in revenue after last year’s 10 percent drop. But he says that won’t be enough to keep pace with the rising cost of employee benefits and other expenses.
The Durango Herald reports the proposed budget would eliminate six positions, including three engineering jobs in the Public Works Department. There will be fewer water, sewer and street projects next year.
